About Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing art form that works to BALANCE, UNBLOCK, and RELAX the energies in the body.

Reiki has a Japanese origin. The word can be translated to mean Universal Life Energy. This universal life energy is in every living thing. Reiki is a gentle non-invasive form of energy work that connects everyone to the healing energy and power innately inside them. It creates an environment for healing to flourish on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels of life.

What to Expect in a Reiki Session

We will talk briefly about what has brought you to Reiki and what your goals and areas of concerns are. Then you can choose to lay on a massage table or stay seated in a chair to experience the Reiki. You might feel a warming sensation or tingling in the body and/or simply a deep state of relaxation.

The session can either be hands-on where I apply light touch or hands-off where I hover my hands slightly above your body. You can specify your preference during each session. I will go through the standard Reiki hand positions that go from the head to the feet. Then we will touch base about how the session was and reaffirm any intentions you came into the session with.

* Clients are fully clothed for a Reiki session. *

Uses of Reiki

Reiki is a great tool for reducing stress and tension and supporting general well-being. Reiki is a great complement to medical or psychological treatment for many conditions including the following:

  • Pain management
  • Release of stress and tension
  • Relieving depression
  • Reducing anxiety
  • Improving sleep
  • Promoting digestive health
  • Strengthening self esteem
  • Encouraging mental clarity
  • Promoting and maintaining general health and well-being
  • Preparing the body for health and healing during and after surgery

About Alex

I believe in the power of taking time to; reconnect to self, relax, let go, open, set intentions, and breath deeply. Reiki supports all this and also connects each one of us to the healing power innate within us. Listening to my clients and coming to understand what brings them to Reiki is a key part of a session. I get to know what their unique set of concerns and goals are.

I create a professional, caring, and nurturing environment for treatments. I am excited to be offering Reiki and enjoy supporting the healing that happens in the lives of my clients.

I studied Reiki at Arlington Reiki Associates in Arlington, MA and I practice in the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho method.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to make an appointment today.

Cancer and Trauma Recovery Coaching

About Avinoam

Avinoam Lerner, Cancer Trauma & Recovery Specialist, Author, TEDx Speaker

Growing up in a war-torn part of the world, where loss and trauma are rampant, I remember this seminal moment, at the age of six, witnessing a woman I looked up to breaking down after learning her husband did not return from the war.

The look in her eyes, of fear and loss, burned into my brain with intensity. I wanted it to go away so badly! But, being so young, I couldn’t do anything; I felt powerless and helpless.

Many years later, I saw the very same look in someone else’s eyes, a cancer patient who came to me for a consultation seeking relief. At that moment, I was no longer that helpless child; I had the tools and the knowledge and could finally help.

That patient changed the direction of my practice and gave it a clear and defined focus – to help people facing cancer and trauma break through to recovery.

I am asked sometimes – how can you do it? How can you stay so present, focused, and content in the face of others’ fears, trauma, and grief? My answer is – it’s what I am here for. I can support people this way because that’s who I am.

As an army veteran, I know the value of discipline and pushing through. Cancer is a battlefield of a sort, which is why my approach is goal-oriented and result-driven. And yet, as a parent of two daughters, I’ve learned to be nurturing and grounded. That is what I offer those I work with, a safe and structured place for healing of both mind and body.

Professional Training

I earned my degree as a Holistic Therapist from the Reidman International College for Complementary and Integrative Medicine in Israel in 2000. I am certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and the National Federation of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NFNLP) in the USA.

What is Muscular Therapy?

Muscular Therapy was developed in the 1960’s by Ben Benjamin, PhD (Sports Medicine). This bodywork system incorporates Swedish massage, deep tissue bodywork, and myofascial and friction therapies.

According to the Benjamin system, in most cases of chronic pain the real culprit is adhesive scar tissue formation. The body responds to soft tissue injury by producing scar tissue wherever muscles, tendons or ligaments are located. When adhesive scar tissue forms, all movement that pulls, stretches or compresses the injured and inflamed tissue causes pain.

Muscular therapy treats a variety of pain, injury, body perception and muscle tension problems. Techniques are used specifically to reduce scar tissue that accumulates because of injury to soft tissue structures in the body.

What is Deep Tissue?

Deep tissue and myofascial work address the muscular and connective tissues using various methods that elongate and alter the fascia layer, increasing range of motion and pain free mobility, as well as releasing trigger points, often called ‘knots’, within the muscle itself. This deep work requires extra time to warm up the tissue, breaking up scar tissue (adhesions), and releasing trigger points. This work is highly recommended to rehabilitate injury or to alleviate chronic pain.

About Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing technique that is done with the client relaxed, fully clothed on a massage table, using light touch or hovering hands. The term “Rei” means “universal” and “ki” means “life force” or the universal energy that is a part of all life and all around us. The Reiki practitioner is the conduit that facilitates the flow of the energy into the client for the highest healing good. Reiki can assist with anxiety, pain, sleeplessness, and general well-being. Medical Reiki can be used pre and post-op to reduce pain and facilitate healing as well as an adjunct to other treatments (ie chemotherapy, medication-intervention) to reduce side effects and assist these treatments in being more effective.

REIKI CLASSES: all levels are available and a regular schedule of classes can be found on the website.

About Shamanic Healing

Shamanic Healing involves the practitioner’s ability to communicate with spirit in order to assist healing. It brings spirit back into the healing process, drawing on the wisdom and guidance of our ancestors and spirit guides. Techniques such as soul retrieval, power animal retrieval, divination and extraction are employed to return the client to a state of wholeness. Space/house clearing is also available; have you recently purchased a new home? Renting new office space? Want to bless your outdoor space? Shamanic space clearing uses ceremony to rid an area of any negative energies that might exist and bring in the blessings of spirit to your space.

Sex and Intimacy Coaching and Tantra Education for couples and individuals

About Zhanna

Growing up in a physician’s family, Zhanna has been fascinated by alternative healing methods and a mind-body connection since her early childhood. An avid reader, Zhanna pursued an advanced degree in Literature and Philosophy, taught at university, and tried different professional paths, before she discovered her passion to bring more wellness, harmony, and sensuality into people’s lives as a sexuality coach.

Already a long-time yogini, occupational therapy practitioner, Reiki Master, and personal and professional development coach, Zhanna began to study Tantra in 2016, and started her Holistic Sex and Intimacy Coaching Practice shortly thereafter.

About Holistic Intimacy Coaching

Holistic means “dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone, and not just a part.”

Zhanna’s sessions are based on a unique combination of psycho-somatic methods, including Tantra, conscious consent practices, communication games, and intuitive counseling.

As your Holistic Intimacy Coach,  she will listen to your concerns and desires, and provide you tailored approach with solid advice, information, and support. As your Tantra Educator, she will guide you through practices of deeper embodiment, awakening your vitality and pleasure, and being more powerfully present for your partner – through your body, and your heart.

What is Tantra?

The word Tantra in Sanskrit can be translated as “weaving together”, or the instrument of expansion.

Tantra is the Eastern tradition of non-duality, which has its roots in Buddhism and Hinduism. Tantra precedes yoga, the physical and spiritual practice of uniting body, mind, and spirit. The intimate practices of Tantra were believed to expand consciousness, reach enlightenment, as well as to create, and sustain spiritual connection and physical passion within traditional marriages.

All Tantra practices are based on seeing sexuality as a positive and empowering life force. Tantra teaches how to embrace, increase, and use sexual energy in your relationships, your bedroom, and your life.
