Registered yoga teacher, Registered and Licensed Dietitian.

Yoga discovered me nearly 15 years ago. I knew it would be the perfect adjunct to the group exercise teaching and weight lifting that was a huge part of my life. Little did I know that it would one day be my full-time careerand my personal life philosophy.

Yoga turned my world upside down. Teacher training began in 2002 in the Anusara style and as I studied, experienced and incorporated yoga asana and philosophy into my life, I became more in touch with my authentic voice. I became a kinder person. I left my job as a registered dietitian to teach yoga.

And many of those are Yoga for Mindful Eating students. It’s an influential 7-week series I developed that closes the disconnect students feel between mind and body and fills in the gap between our dysfunctional relationship with food and self-acceptance. Through this series you’ll experience freedom from emotional eating, awareness of when you’re really hungry and full or satisfied, and coping mechanisms for stress eating. As you experience a mindfulness-based approach to eating, you can let go of perfection and instead, move toward a healthy relationship with food, your body and your self-image.

In 14 years, I’ve helped hundreds improve diabetes, GI conditions, heart disease, disordered eating, compulsive overeating, and achieve weight loss. Administrating a weight management clinic nestled within an academic research medical center for nearly 9 years afforded me extensive experience in nutrition counseling.

As dietitian for 10 years for the web-based nutrition program www.DASHforHealth.com, I focus on nutrition and behavioral recommendations in twice-weekly messages for readers seeking guidance in their nutritional health. As faculty for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ (formerly the American Dietetic Association) Adolescent/Pediatric Weight Management Program as an expert in Client-Based Counseling, I witness empowerment in my clients to be in charge of their health.

As a co-investigator of an NIH-funded study for Yoga for Low Back Pain, I authored subject study materials (yoga sequence, CD, and take-home instruction manual) as well as taught the yoga sessions.

I am expert in vegetarian nutrition and serve as such with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

And currently, I’m enrolled in an intensive training program for the Internal Family Systems method of counseling. This system aligns so closely with the yoga philosophy from which I teachthat being to look for the auspicious beauty in everyone and everything.

Mondays 6:15pm – 8:15pm
at The Body-Mind Integration Center

Wren Ross has been singing, acting and teaching for many decades. Her Voice -Over workshops have received rave reviews from producers and actors as the premiere training ground for voice artists in Boston. She performed in “Shear Madness” (the longest play in Boston’s history for ten years). Wren has recorded countless radio and TV spots, corporate and educational projects and many notable museum and planetarium shows. She has directed many children’s audio books and recently completed a seven episode audio drama, “Lightsong” based on the life of late musician, Josh Clayton Felt. Wren has co-authored a book called Changing Patterns: Discovering the Fabric of Your Creativity published by Hay House, Inc.

In addition to her long time private teaching practice, Wren has taught acting workshops at Boston Conservatory (over 20 years), Wellesley College, The University of Delaware, Brandeis University and the University of New Mexico, to name a few. Wren has a deep respect for the expressive power and beauty of the human voice.

*About the Alexander Technique and the Use of the Voice – The vocal instrument goes from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet. Working with the whole body produces a good voice, either for performing or for talking.

The Alexander Technique is a skill. It works on the premise that the way the body is used affects the way it functions. The Alexander Technique points the way to using the body with maximum efficiency. By becoming aware of inappropriate tensions and holding patterns, it is possible to create a body that is poised, efficient and strong. The Alexander Technique is used in all forms of activity and is very exciting when applied to the voice and breathing in particular, as the results can be almost instantaneous.

Linda Carmichael has been teaching The Alexander Technique for almost twenty-five years. As a young drama student at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Linda grew to appreciate the transitional power of the Alexander Technique in her work as an artist. Applying the technique in performance created a more powerful control of her body and vocal mechanism. Linda has conducted workshops at Berklee College of Music, The ART Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University, Lesley University Dance Therapy program, The Harvard Radcliffe Chorus and has a private practice in Davis Square Somerville.

Discover Your Procrastination Solution

Explore the roots of your procrastination

Identify underlying purposes

Develop practical alternatives suited to you

Try out your new alternatives — in the workshop and in the time between meetings

In this unique workshop you’ll learn simple strategies to enable you to apply proven, pragmatic methods drawn from the instructor’s experience helping hundreds of people free themselves from procrastination.

You’ve done the time-management and the motivational classes, bought the self-help books, and gleaned the general-wisdom advice from friends, family, and others about setting goals and fighting procrastination. You still haven’t been able to change the frustrating habit of procrastination.

How Procrastination Works

People procrastinate over simple, mundane activities as well as activities that are challenging and deeply important. Procrastination is a worn-out habit that attempts to reduce some level of discomfort. This habit is partially successful — which accounts for its enduring yet frustrating nature. Procrastination is difficult to change on your own or even in the setting of time management classes, which usually fail to address the underlying meaning and purpose of procrastination.

About the Workshop

This unique workshop guides you in changing your procrastination habits while addressing their underlying purposes.

The workshop includes:

Informative lecture

Guided Imagery

Discussions and brainstorming

Small group work

Writing exercises

Optional journal writing

Coaching

Between-class application of what you are learning

Using the insights and information gained through these techniques, you will develop an individualized set of steps that you can follow during the week. What you do with these steps (whether you follow some, all, or even none of these steps) will form a valuable foundation for the next meeting.

With the instructor’s experienced assistance, you will be guided in designing for yourself a new and more effective way of accomplishing what you need and want, allowing more enjoyment and satisfaction in your life.

The Procrastination Solution picks you up where your time management classes drop you off.
